Kinetic typography

Fall 2016 (1 week)
A 60-second time motion piece was created to introduce and analyze the typeface Stag, focusing on Stag Semibold in particular.

Explorations and iterations

Before the video, I did some preliminary type analysis by researching the history of Stag, as well as investigating the characteristics of the typeface. After analyzing the typeface both by hand and digitally, I made 3x3 grids to capture the essence of Stag. Each square housed a cropped letterform, highlighting a specific part of a letter characteristic to the typeface. All nine squares were then put together to create a balanced, abstract, and informative composition.

Some aspects I wanted to specifically highlight was the bold quality of the font, in addition to the quirky nuances seen the the variation in brackets on the serifs.
